The Department of Defence Production and Supplies was formed in December 1984 as a merger of the then Department of Defence Production and Department of Defence Supplies.
The Directorate of Quality Insurance within the department is responsible for the research and development of equipment relating to nuclear, chemical, and biological warfare.
