The Institute of Applied Physics (API) is affiliated with the Iranian military and suspected of involvement in possible nuclear weaponization efforts. [1] Specifically, the IAEA discussed with Iran the participation of an IAP staff member in work on exploding-bridge wire detonators and an attempt to purchase radiation-monitoring equipment from abroad. [2] Iran declared that the staff member in question was in fact working on a project for the country's oil industry. The Agency also mentions the API in connection with a series of other undeclared nuclear activities. [3] As of November 2010, the issue remains unresolved.
