According to the U.S. Department of the Treasury Ya Mahdi Industries Group (YMIG), one of the main subsidiaries of the Aerospace Industries Organization (AIO), "has been involved in international purchases of missile-related technology and goods on behalf of the Aerospace Industries Organization (AIO)." [1] In 1996, Britain's MI5 discovered that an Iranian businessman had been regularly using the United Kingdom as a transit country to export goods to YMIG. [2] Both the U.S. government and UNSCR 1747 have imposed financial sanctions on YMIG. [3]
