The facility is intended to be used in the separation of radioisotopes from 19.7% U-235 enriched uranium that has been irradiated in the ETRR-2 research reactor. However, Egypt has not yet procured any of the relevant nuclear equipment for this facility. [1]
In 2004, Egypt showed IAEA inspectors the radioisotope. Production Facility, after which the IAEA advised Egypt that it should have reported the facility to the agency no later than 1997. Egypt subsequently provided the IAEA with relevant design information. [2]
