The Shalheveth Freier Center for Peace, Science and Technology is adjacent to the Soreq Nuclear Research Center and was established in 1996. The purpose of the center is to "broaden the scientific activity intended to promote peace in the Middle East." [1] The Center houses the National Data Center, which is a monitoring mechanism for the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT). Other activities include organizing seminars, and assessing the balance between policy and technological needs in the nuclear field. [2]
