The CRNC Fuel Pilot Plant conducts work on purification, conversion, and the production of fuel pellets. Operational since 1986, it is located at the Çekmece Nuclear Research and Training Centre. The facility performs small-scale "uranium purification, conversion to UO2, and production of fuel pellets." [1] In the 1990s, the IAEA assisted Turkey in developing the capability to produce "high-grade" UO2 pellets, which are suitable for nuclear-fuel production. [2]
