In 2005, the Saraykoy Centre succeeded both the Ankara Nuclear Research and Training Centre and the Anakara Nuclear Research Centre for Agricultural and Animal Science. [1] SNAEM is responsible for using cyclotrons for medical purposes. Turkey reported to the IAEA that a 30MeV cyclotron for the production of radioisotopes is under construction at SNAEM, and is scheduled for commissioning by the end of 2011. [2] The Centre also has a fusion laboratory, where fusion research using plasma focus and spherical torus or "tokamak" systems is undertaken. [3]
