The Center for Policy Studies in Russia —
PIR Center

To get an accurate view from inside Russia about nuclear policy, safety, technologies and terrorism, read Nuclear Russia Today, a bi-weekly Russian language online new service. Nuclear Russia Today is a digest of news abstracts from the Russian press and other media, including regional media institutions, news from the closed cities and excerpts from government documents. Topics include nuclear arms issues, nuclear policy, nuclear safety and security, nuclear materials and their physical protection, accounting and control, spent nuclear fuel, nuclear export, export controls, unauthorized access to nuclear materials, nuclear terrorism, nuclear technologies and dual-use technologies.

The PIR Center is a non-profit, independent, Moscow-based research and public education organization, which was founded in April 1994. The Center is currently focused on international security, arms control, and nonproliferation issues that are directly related to Russia's internal situation.

Links and Web Resources
red line

There is a tremendous amount of information about nonproliferation issues available on the World Wide Web. NTI lists include links to some of the foundations and organizations working to reduce the global threats from nuclear, biological and chemical weapons. They also include links to relevant government agencies and departments.

'Periodicals' page is also featured in the 'Research Library' section, while 'Education Links' page is featured in 'Teacher's Toolkit'.

Users can also link to the Educational Resource Guide created by the Center for Nonproliferation Studies at the Monterey Institute of International Studies. This annotated, key word-searchable collection of web sites was designed to direct educators, researchers and the general public to web sites with nonproliferation education resources. The Guide evaluates each site's educational value on a 1-to-5 scale, considering whether the site offers full text documents, internships, references, multimedia abilities and links.

By providing this area of related links, NTI is not endorsing any web sites or organizations. Neither is the omission of a site or group meant in any way as an editorial comment.
