France, Jordan Hold Nuclear Planning Meeting
France and Jordan held talks yesterday in Amman to advance a nuclear cooperation agreement the two nations signed last year, the Petra news agency reported (see GSN, July 30, 2008).
It was the second meeting of the Joint Jordanian-French Higher Steering Committee, established to manage the work of five working-level groups that have started to help Jordan finance and regulate a fledgling nuclear industry and to train nuclear technicians.
France plans to begin such training efforts next year, said French Ambassador Denys Gauer (Petra/Jordan Times, Feb. 12).
