Kazakhstan, Russia Discuss Antimissile Collaboration
The heads of defense for Russia and Kazakhstan held productive talks on Tuesday on the planned fielding of a Russian aerial defense system in the Central Asian country, Interfax reported.
Lt. Col. Irina Kovalchuk, spokeswoman for Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov, said "the draft agreement will be coordinated on the national level and prepared for signing by the end of this year."
The spokeswoman said Serdyukov and his Kazakh opposite, Adilbek Dzhaksybekov, additionally agreed to begin discussions on possibly expanding the planned air defense system's capabilities to include missile defense.
