New Zealand has officially offered assistance through the 1540 Committee, noting that "Together with Australia, New Zealand has begun discussions with some Pacific Island states about the implementation of UNSCR 1540." In 2012, New Zealand is developing new radiation safety legislation. In 2012, it provided financial contribution for the work of the World Institute for Nuclear Security (WINS).
