NTI Co-Hosts Command and Control Film Screening During 2016 Nuclear Security Summit

During the week of the 2016 Nuclear Security Summit, NTI co-hosted a special preview screening of a new film, Command and Control, based on Eric Schlosser’s book by the same name. A documentary thriller, the film focuses on the story of a deadly accident at a Titan II missile complex in Damascus, Arkansas in 1980.

Held at a movie theater in downtown Washington, the film attracted a sell-out crowd that included California Gov. Jerry Brown, former U.S. Secretary of Defense William  Perry, White House and congressional staff,
experts and others. Following the film, NTI Co-Chairman and CEO Sam Nunn spoke on a panel with Eric Schlosser and Robert Kenner, the film’s director; Jeanne Meserve, formerly of CNN and ABC News, served as moderator.

The Washington screening was co-hosted by NTI, the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and PBS American Experience Films.

In March, NTI and the European Leadership Network (ELN) organized a screening of the film at the UK Parliament, followed by a conversation with NTI Vice Chairman and former UK Secretary of State for Defense Des Browne, Robert Kenner and Eric Schlosser. Attending: Members of Parliament and the House of Lords; Margaret Beckett, MP and former Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs; actors Colin Firth and Carey Elwes, among others
