Senator Nunn to Visit Moscow for U.S.-Russian Dialogue on Future Nuclear Cooperation

Former Senator Sam Nunn, co-chairman and chief executive officer of the Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI), will be in Moscow in late February to participate in a high-level dialogue on nuclear cooperation between the United States and Russia, co-sponsored by NTI and the Russian Center for Energy and Security Studies (CENESS).

At a time of strained relations between the world’s two largest nuclear powers, maintaining channels of communication between nuclear experts has taken on increased significance. This dialogue, to be held on February 25-26, will focus on identifying opportunities in the area of nuclear cooperation that the U.S. and Russian governments could consider when political relations improve. Participants in the dialogue will include former senior government officials, as well as representatives from industry, academia, and technical institutes. A report summarizing the conclusions of the dialogue will be published in the summer of 2016.
