Writing on the NTI Nuclear Materials Security Index and the road to the 2014 Nuclear Security Summit, NTI contributed to the inaugural edition of INENS Insights, a publication of the International Network of Emerging Nuclear Specialists. The article discussed the international response to the first-of-its-kind NTI Index, the threat posed by vulnerable weapons-usable nuclear materials and steps states can take individually or collectively to address this threat.
The article challenges the international community to consider "how, with Dutch leadership, the 2014 Nuclear Security Summit can leave in place the global architecture to achieve proper security of these dangerous materials."

New YouGov polling commissioned by NTI and ReThink Media finds that nearly 80 percent of registered voters, across party lines, say it is in the interest of U.S. national security to work with China to mitigate catastrophic threats associated with nuclear risks, AI development, and bioterrorism.
“The data point to a historic lapse in nuclear security leadership in these countries at a moment when nuclear dangers are rising,” NTI President and CEO Christine E. Wormuth said.
“The bottom line is that the countries and areas with the greatest responsibility for protecting the world from a catastrophic act of nuclear terrorism are derelict in their duty,” the 2023 NTI Index reports.
