Join NTI FutureSafe for a conversation with Kimberly S. Budil, PhD, Director of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, on the nuclear security enterprise—and how we can tailor it for our future.

As governments grapple with how to effectively harness the benefits and mitigate the risks of emerging technologies and AI, Budil will discuss the future of developing and maintaining the U.S. nuclear arsenal and her vision of how emerging technologies in computing, biology, space, and advanced manufacturing can reshape U.S. national security science.

Budil is the 13th Director of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). She sets the strategic vision for LLNL and ensures the enhancement of national security through the application of cutting-edge science and technology. Along with the directors of Los Alamos and Sandia national laboratories, she shares the responsibility of providing the U.S. government with an annual institutional assessment of the safety, security, and effectiveness of U.S. nuclear weapons.
