The China WMD database is the world's most complete open-source electronic database on Chinese arms control and nonproliferation developments. The database contains hundreds of primary source documents (in both English and Chinese), extensive reference materials, bibliographic information and comprehensive fact sheets. This powerful research tool provides concise and up-to-date analysis of critical issues relating to China, arms control and nonproliferation. Experts and scholars at the Center for Nonproliferation at the Monterey Institute of International Studies created and maintain this database.
What's New: This section highlights newly updated sections and newly added information for the China WMD database. The database is updated every two weeks.
The database is divided into six principal sections:
Arms control and nonproliferation diplomacy - China's participation in arms control and nonproliferation agreements, organizations and regimes and China's role in regional nonproliferation.
China's nuclear policies and programs -Nuclear disarmament and arms control policies, nuclear weapons doctrine, stockpiles, modernization and testing and nuclear facilities.
Nuclear nonproliferation - China's nuclear exports and assistance, nuclear imports and assistance from abroad and international nuclear cooperation agreements.
Missile nonproliferation - China's international missile exports and assistance, its export control system, nuclear imports.
Other arms control and nonproliferation issues - China's chemical and biological weapons, conventional weapons nonproliferation and space weapons.
Reference materials - Research overview, key organizations, chronologies of arms control, tables and charts, links to other Web sites and bibliographic information.
