Canada, Libya Take Step Toward Nuclear Cooperation
Canada and Libya have agreed to cooperate on nuclear energy activities, the Jamahariya News Agency reported Saturday (see GSN, June 12).
Officials signed a memorandum of understanding that paves the way for collaboration on a number of civilian nuclear operations, including uranium mining and the development of water desalinization systems for nuclear-energy and other purposes.
Both sides agreed to execute the accord with safety, nonproliferation and environmental standards consistent with international laws and those of the two countries (Jamahariya News Agency/ISRIA.com, Aug. 1).
