Contractor Cleared for $1.7B Patriot Deal With Saudi Arabia
Congress and the State Department have cleared Raytheon to carry out $1.7 billion in enhancements to Saudi Arabia's Patriot missile and air defense platforms, the U.S. defense firm announced on Wednesday (see GSN, June 22).
The company would also supply new hardware, equipment and training under the contract. The Patriot system, employed by 12 governments, is designed to target tactical ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and other enemy air assets (Raytheon release, Nov. 30).
