Abstract:

Ten metric tons of radioactive stainless steel pipe was stolen from the the Kompleks storage facility, located 1.5km from the Chornobyl nuclear power plant, Minsk Radio reported on 24 July 2000.  Citing Ukrainian security officials, the report said that the missing pipes were contaminated and emit 500 times the permissible level of radiation.
