More than 40 researchers and scientists with expertise in nuclear security, climate science, agriculture and food security, development policy, engineering, international relations, and economics gathered in person and virtually for a hybrid conference on global nuclear effects convened by the Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI) on June 1-2, 2022.
A new NTI paper offers a focused set of recommendations for achieving success at the 10th Review Conference (RevCon) of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) to be held in New York from January 4-22, 2022.
"The Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) has, as of Saturday, October 24, 2020, been ratified by 50 countries and will enter into force early next year."
The paper examines the world’s non-proliferation architecture against today’s challenges and offers technical and policy approaches to mitigating proliferation concerns in the future.
NTI Senior Director Andrew Newman chaired a side event at the NPT Preparatory Committee Meeting to discuss the practical activities of the IPNDV.
