IAEA Low Enriched Uranium Bank Launches in Kazakhstan, Significant Milestone for NTI-Backed Nuclear Security Initiative
LEU Bank is model of international cooperation to reduce nuclear proliferation risks and build a safer world
NTI Vice Chairman Des Browne and NTI Emeritus Board Member Shirley Williams penned a letter to the Editor published in The New York Times.
The letter declared that the Iran nuclear agreement is “…comprehensive and covers the main areas of concern over Iran’s nuclear program. It includes intrusive, detailed measures for verification and inspection of Iran’s civil nuclear program, in line with the requirements of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s additional protocol. In effect, it sharply reduces the amount of enriched uranium Iran can hold and freezes further enrichment for 10 to 15 years.”
In addition, the letter appealed to U.S. members of Congress to keep in mind the “multilateral nature” of the deal during upcoming deliberations.
