Jill Hruby and Laura Turner Seydel have joined the Board of Directors of the Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI).
“We are so pleased to welcome these outstanding leaders to NTI’s board,” said NTI Co-Chair and CEO Ernest J. Moniz. “Jill brings tremendous technical and policy expertise from her long tenure at Sandia National Laboratories. Laura has an exceptional background in philanthropy and advocacy.”
From 2018-2019, Hruby served as NTI’s inaugural Sam Nunn Distinguished Fellow. Previously, she spent 34 years at Sandia National Laboratories, serving as director from 2015-2017. She has a research background in nuclear weapons, cyberspace, and biological defense, among other areas. In November, she released a comprehensive review of Russia’s nuclear weapons delivery systems with NTI.
Seydel is an internationally recognized humanitarian and environmentalist who serves as chair of the Captain Planet Foundation and director of the Turner Foundation. She works with and supports organizations that address urgent challenges affecting the health, functionality and vitality of our life support system: our air, water, land, food, biodiversity and climate. She serves on the board of Project Drawdown, which focuses on measuring the top scalable solutions to address global warming.
