Nunn: Deal Prevents Iran from Getting a Nuclear Weapon

In an interview on Atlanta’s NPR station WABE-90.1 FM. NTI Co-chairman and CEO Sam Nunn expressed support for the Iran nuclear deal and explained how the agreement will make it far more difficult for Iran develop a nuclear weapon going forward.

If the deal is approved, “it’s going to be a lot harder for the Iranians to get a nuclear bomb over the next 10 or 15 years,” Nunn said. Asked about one of opponents’ main arguments against the deal, that it will end the sanctions on Iran, Nunn said,“The assumption of that argument is that we can continue the embargo. And the United States can make that decision and our allies, including Russia and China, will all salute and say, ‘Yes sir, Uncle Sam, we’ll go along with that.’ …That assumption is false.”
