New 3D video of North Korea’s Sinpo facility, hub of efforts to build SLBM

This week NTI and the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation
Studies (CNS) released a new
3D animated video  and B-Roll of North
Korea’s
Sinpo South Naval Shipyard. This
facility is at the center of North Korea’s efforts to develop a
submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM), a program believed to have started
in 2013.

The international community has had a watchful eye on North
Korea this year. The country has been working steadily to
expand its nuclear weapons and delivery system capability since its first test
of a nuclear explosive device in 2006, and this year it carried out its fourth
and fifth nuclear weapons tests in January and September, respectively.  The September nuclear weapons test was carried
out only days after the country tested a never-before-seen delivery system, a
new Extended Range Scud missile (first reported by CNS experts on NTI’s website
here), and just
weeks after an August test of a solid-fueled SLBM conducted near this Sinpo facility.

North Korea and the country’s WMD programs?
