“The 2017 Next Generation for Biosecurity Competition not only gave young professionals a chance to present their creative ideas at a high level ministerial conference but also served as a crucial platform to foster cross-regional partnerships that will positively impact the future of global health security. We need to keep this momentum going.”

The NTI | bio program and the Next Generation Global Health Security Network announce the 2018 Next Generation for Biosecurity Competition. This year, NTI | bio will invest up to $15,000 to allow the winning team to implement their proposal with mentorship from experts in the field. Team members also will attend the 5th Annual High Level Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA) Ministerial in Bali, Indonesia on November 5-6, where they will present their proposal to health security leaders from around the world.
Each 2018 Next Generation for Biosecurity Competition team can include up to three people and should propose either: (1) training and networking opportunities for professionals of all levels to develop an interest and further proficiency in the biosecurity and biosafety fields; or (2) an educational outreach project to raise public awareness around the importance of biosecurity and biosafety.
We seek creative and innovative proposals that promote regional, multi-sectoral, and global collaboration. Proposals should directly address the biosecurity targets included within the World Health Organization Joint External Evaluation and the GHSA Action Package on Biosecurity and Biosafety (APP3).
To participate in the competition all applicants must be either enrolled at an academic institution or working as a professional in the biosecurity and biosafety fields. At least one-third of team members must be part of the Next Generation GHS Network — to join, click here. The deadline for submissions is August 31, 2018 at midnight EDT.
