NTI Highlights Health-Security Partnerships, Emphasizes Urgency, and Presses for Measurable Progress in Countering Biological Threats at WHA

NTI joins hundreds of
government officials and experts from around the world during the
70th
World Health Assembly
(WHA) in Geneva, Switzerland this week to highlight
the importance of health and security sector partnerships to counter biological
threats and advance the Global Health Security Agenda.

, NTI’s Senior Director for Global Biological Policy and
Programs, briefed the 
Joint
External Evaluation (JEE) Alliance
and the Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA) Steering
Group on the development of a
Global
Health Security Index
, which is aimed at spurring measurable, monitored,
and meaningful commitments across sectors to prevent, detect, and respond to
epidemic threats. Cameron also provided NTI’s perspective on the importance of
security and health sector collaboration during a side event focused on
women
leaders in health security
and will discuss NTI’s renewed focus on biosecurity during a meeting of
the
Global
Partnership Against the Spread of Weapons and Materials of Mass Destruction
Biological
Security Working Group.
