Call for Proposals: Next Generation for Biosecurity in GHSA Competition

A trip to Uganda, a video, a six-month mentorship with a biosecurity professional! If your team includes members of the Next Generation Global Health Security (GHS) Network and are currently a student or working in the field of biosecurity, you and two teammates could win any one of these professional-development prizes as part of a new competition designed to foster cross-sectoral, regional, and global collaboration to advance biosecurity, the Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA), and a global biosecurity professional track.

NTI’s Biosecurity Program, in partnership with the Next Generation GHS Network, is launching the Next Generation competition to advance the GHSA and its biosecurity-related targets prior to the 4th Annual High Level GHSA Ministerial Meeting in October 2017. Hosted in Kampala, Uganda, this Ministerial Meeting will convene health security leaders from around the world to discuss progress and chart next steps to further implement the GHSA and achieve its targets.

This competition, open to members of the Next Generation GHS Network, aims to reduce biological risks, improve regional and cross-regional collaboration, provide opportunities to exchange knowledge, and develop partnerships among next-generation professionals to achieve biological security targets within the GHSA and the Joint External Evaluation. The competition also will foster a biosecurity professional track within the Next Generation GHS Network.

Applicants must be enrolled in an academic institution or a professional working in the global health security field. The First Place team will win a trip for three to attend the October Ministerial Meeting in Kampala and present their proposal.
