Turkey Seen Favoring Chinese Antimissile Technology
Turkey is disposed toward choosing a Chinese weapons manufacturer to supply the country with an air and missile defense system over rival bids from U.S., Russian, and European defense firms, Defense News reported earlier this week.
The bid by China Precision Machinery Import and Export to sell its HQ-9 meet's Turkey's technological requirements and is substantively less expensive than the other proposals, according to an anonymous high-ranking Turkish procurement official.
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Defense Minister Ismet Yilmaz have final say on the matter.
