Global Health Security Index
An assessment and benchmarking of health security and related capabilities across 195 countries.
All countries remain dangerously unprepared for the next pandemic. Infectious disease outbreaks—including COVID-19, Ebola, mpox, and H5N1 flu —have exposed weaknesses in capabilities to prevent, detect, and respond to biological threats. Without robust measures to respond to public health emergencies, outbreaks can rapidly spread, costing millions of lives and trillions in economic losses. Ultimately, this threatens global peace and security.
NTI works to build accountability among governments to invest in pandemic preparedness. We provide data about critical capacity gaps, advocate for funders to make evidence-based decisions that maximize the impact of their investments and set global standards for biosecurity and pandemic preparedness.
NTI | bio’s international health security benchmarking tools enable decisionmakers to identify opportunities for improving national and regional pandemic preparedness capacities. Our advocacy efforts seek to ensure that countries are better prepared to prevent, detect, and response to the next major biological event.
