On September 29, 2018, members of the nuclear, cyber, and media communities gathered to hear the results of the new NTI report, Nuclear Weapons in the New Cyber Age. The report found that cyber threats to nuclear weapons and related systems—including nuclear planning systems, early warning systems, communication systems, and delivery systems—increase the risk of unauthorized use of a nuclear weapon, increase the risk of nuclear use as a result of false warnings, and could undermine confidence in the nuclear deterrent.

Page Stoutland PhD, NTI VP of Scientific and Technical Affairs, presented the report findings and recommendations. Samantha Pitts-Kiefer, NTI Senior Director of Global Nuclear Policy, facilitated a discussion and Q&A with panelists Ernest J. Moniz, NTI CEO, Sam Nunn, NTI Co-Chair, and Des Browne, NTI Co-Chair.
