In a world facing the twin existential threats posed by climate change and nuclear weapons, advanced Generation IV nuclear reactors can meaningfully contribute to solving both challenges. However, because of the ever-present potential for misuse of nuclear materials, there are risks involved, and incorporating nuclear security into designs is necessary to deploy these novel reactor types on a wider scale.

The World Institute of Nuclear Security, with the support of NTI, recently published this Special Report on the Security of Advanced Reactors. Join us for a presentation of key findings from the report and a discussion about ways to include security in advanced reactors.

Featuring:

  • Laura S.H. Holgate, Ambassador (ret.), Vice President for Materials Risk Management, NTI
  • Jackie Kempfer, Senior Policy Advisor, Climate and Energy Program, Third Way
  • Daniel Johnson, Senior Advisor, North America, World Institute of Nuclear Security
