NTI | bio Expert Calls on U.S. House Leaders to Prioritize Biosecurity
NTI | bio Senior Fellow Jaime Yassif, Ph.D., called on government leaders to take urgent steps to prevent future catastrophic biological events during a Dec. 8, 2021 hearing.
NTI and the COVID-Local team have joined Harvard Global Health Institute, Harvard's Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics, Rockefeller Foundation, CovidActNow, CIDRAP, and other leading public health experts to offer a unified framework of clear metrics for decision making, definitions, and guidance for local leaders working to suppress the COVID-19 outbreak in their communities.
Key Metrics For COVID Suppression provides clear, accessible guidance to policy makers and the public on how to target and suppress COVID-19 more effectively across the nation.
The new framework includes four risk levels and provides guidance on controls, key performance indicators, and metrics across each level. It also offers options for actions beyond testing, contact tracing, and social isolation.
These shared metrics and guidance will be incorporated into the COVID-19 response resources for local leaders provided on COVID-Local.org.
The network of research, policy, and public health experts that developed the new framework was convened by Harvard’s Global Health Institute and the Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics.
