Statement from Sam Nunn, Co-Chairman of the Nuclear Threat Initiative, regarding President Bush’s comments on US-Russian Access to Nuclear Sites
“I applaud President Bush's willingness to discuss Russia's reciprocal access to our nuclear sites. Both countries have a vital stake in working together to prevent catastrophic terrorism by keeping nuclear materials and weapons out of the hands of terrorists. Notwithstanding our inevitable differences, our mutual security depends on cooperation, and cooperation requires a much higher degree of reciprocity. We need sustained Presidential leadership by Bush and Putin to enhance our cooperative nuclear security work.”
