Resources to Decode North Korea’s Nuclear Test

On Wednesday, January 6, North Korea announced that it had conducted its fourth nuclear test. A statement from North Korea’s Central News Agency claimed that its had tested a hydrogen bomb, more powerful than the simpler fission devices tested in 2006, 2009 and 2013. The Vienna-based Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty Organization confirmed that its monitoring stations picked up unusual seismic activity near the Punggye-Ri test site, the location of North Korea’s previous three tests.
