Join experts from the Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI) and the Vienna Center for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation (VCDNP) for a luncheon and presentation on what governments need to know about the 2023 NTI Nuclear Security Index’s alarming and surprising data findings. The experts will explain the NTI Index’s top-line insights on global nuclear security conditions and how governments can use the Index’s data-driven recommendations to strengthen the laws and institutions that support nuclear security internationally.

The sixth edition of the NTI Index comes at a particularly dangerous time, with nuclear facilities facing an array of rapidly evolving risks—from non-state actors emboldened by disruptive new technologies to state actors brazenly conducting direct assaults. As governments seek to correct course on nuclear security, the NTI Index offers an unparalleled assessment of gaps in the global nuclear security architecture that should be addressed as urgent priorities.

The NTI Index is the world’s most comprehensive public assessment of nuclear and radiological security conditions across 175 countries and Taiwan. Developed by NTI and Economist Impact, the NTI Index uses publicly available information to track progress and recommend actions for governments, regulators, international institutions, industry, and civil society to take to better protect nuclear and radioactive materials and nuclear facilities around the world.
