WASHINGTON – President Trump and North Korean leader Kim are scheduled to meet in Hanoi, Vietnam on February 27-28, 2019. This will be the second meeting between the leaders from the United States and North Korea. In addition to CEO and Co-Chair Ernest J. Mr. Richard Johnson, Senior Director for Fuel Cycle and Verification, NTI
Johnson previously served as the deputy lead coordinator (acting) for Iran Nuclear Implementation at the U.S. Department of State. Prior to working at the Department of State, Johnson was director for nonproliferation at the National Security Council in the Obama Administration. Johnson held numerous positions at the Department of State, including as nonproliferation officer for the Office of Korean Affairs, as well as a posting to the U.S. embassy in Beijing. On assignment to the Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration, Johnson was a U.S. nuclear disablement monitor at the Yongbyon nuclear facility in the DPRK.
Ms. Lynn Rusten, Vice President, Global Nuclear Policy Program, NTI
Rusten has held senior positions in the White House, Department of State and Congress. Before joining NTI in 2017, Rusten served as the senior director for arms control and nonproliferation on the White House National Security Council staff and held positions at the Department of State, including chief of staff for the Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation and senior advisor in the Bureau of Arms Control, Verification and Compliance.
Mr. Steve Andreasen, National Security Consultant, NTI
Andreasen served as director for defense policy and arms control on the National Security Council at the White House during the Clinton Administration. He was the principal advisor on strategic policy, nuclear arms control and missile defense to the National Security Advisor and the President. During the Bush Sr. and Reagan Administrations, Andreasen served in the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Politico-Military Affairs and the Bureau of Intelligence and Research, dealing with a wide-range of defense policy, arms control, nuclear weapons and intelligence issues.
Ms. Corey Hinderstein, Vice President, International Fuel Cycle Strategies, NTI (limited availability)
Hinderstein recently returned to NTI after a three-year leave, during which she was senior coordinator for nuclear security and nonproliferation policy affairs at the National Nuclear Security Administration, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). Among other duties, she advised the Deputy Administrator for Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation on significant policy and communications initiatives. Hinderstein was the Department’s lead for the substantive and logistical preparations for the 2016 Nuclear Security Summit and served as the DOE’s representative on the White House Summit (“Sherpa”) team.
