NTI Senior Director for Nuclear Materials Security Nickolas Roth participated in the second-ever joint meeting of the Institute of Nuclear Materials Management (INMM) and the European Safeguards Research and Development Association (ESARDA) from May 22-26, 2022.
The meeting was an opportunity for NTI to share its latest work with hundreds of government, civil society, and industry experts who focus on nuclear safety and security around the world.
Roth led and participated in several panel events at the meeting. He moderated a panel on the importance of culture and diversity in nuclear security systems, featuring a paper he co-authored with Stimson Center Research Analyst Sneha Nair, “Building a Diverse, Equitable, and Inclusive Nuclear Security Culture.” At a second panel, Roth moderated a conversation about challenges facing the non-proliferation regime. He also organized a panel that explored the future of the Amended Convention on the Physical Protection of Nuclear Material.
On the margins of the meeting, Roth and NTI Senior Director for Nuclear Materials Security Ross Matzkin-Bridger led a Global Dialogue on Nuclear Security Priorities salon dinner with attendees from five continents. The group discussed ways to build a more inclusive nuclear security dialogue and nuclear security considerations for emerging markets.
