MOVEMENT FOR NUCLEAR SAFETY (MNS) 

This is an environmental movement in Chelyabinsk Oblast. It was formed in 1989 by a group of Russian women concerned about radioactive waste.  MNS runs environment and health education programs and is fighting against the construction of the South Urals Nuclear Power Plant.

NON-PROLIFERATION ASSOCIATION

This is a public organization uniting scientists; production, operation and management specialists; as well as teachers and students in Russia working on or studying in the fields of nuclear energy use, nuclear research and associated areas.

NUCLEAR SOCIETY (ALSO KNOWN AS THE RUSSIAN NUCLEAR SOCIETY)

The Nuclear Society is made up of scientists and experts in the nuclear power industry.  As of July 1999, it has 1,600 members.[1]

UNION OF NUCLEAR POWER ENGINEERING TERRITORIES AND ENTERPRISES
The Union of Nuclear Power Engineering Territories and Enterprises was established in June 1998.  Its main aim is to unite nuclear power enterprises and the territories in which they are located, in order to coordinate efforts in resolving the regions' socioeconomic problems.  The regions that have joined the union include Saratov, Murmansk, Tver, Smolensk, Sverdlovsk, Kursk, Rostov, Voronezh, Ulyanovsk, and Leningrad Oblasts and Chukotka Autonomous Oblast.[1,2]
