NTI at the 10th NPT Review Conference
NTI will host three side events at the 10th NPT Review Conference.
On February 3-4, the Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI) hosted a meeting of the Global
Enterprise to Strengthen Non-Proliferation and Disarmament (GE) in Paris. The GE meeting brought together officials from nearly 20 countries, along with non-government experts, to identify and consider practical steps and initiatives that could produce tangible progress on
disarmament and nonproliferation for 2020 Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT)
Review Conference.
The discussion reflected universal support for the fundamental commitments at the heart of the NPT and a shared desire to identify creative, practical areas for progress in support of the Treaty in advance of the 10th Review Conference of the NPT. Participants focused on options in five key areas: improving transparency; reducing the risk of nuclear use; political statements focused on disarmament, risk reduction, and transparency; nuclear doctrine; and managing the risks associated with fissile materials.
The discussion was informed by six papers NTI commissioned from various experts. The papers served to enhance understanding of the current state of play and various perspectives on the issues and identify practical ideas and proposals to further develop within the GE.
NTI plans to re-convene the group for a brief meeting on the margins of the NPT Preparatory Committee meeting this spring and another full session in the fall.

A new NTI paper offers a focused set of recommendations for achieving success at the 10th Review Conference (RevCon) of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) to be held in New York from January 4-22, 2022.
NTI experts are available to put the film in the context of today's nuclear risks.
