Bio

Scott Nolan Smith serves as senior director of communications for NTI. In this role, he provides strategic communications support for the organization’s program teams to best engage audiences and advance NTI policy priorities, with a particular emphasis on the NTI | bio programs.

Prior to joining NTI in 2024, Smith held senior consulting roles with strategic communications agencies including Global Gateway Advisors, Clyde Group, and Portland Communications. He led and supported projects for global institutions and NGOs, such as the governments of Australia, Benin, France, and Qatar, the Corporate Council on Africa, UN Population Fund, Qatar Foundation, APEC, Pacific Advancement for Diplomatic Leadership Program, Smithsonian Institution, Institute of International Education, and the UN Foundation, among others. He also formerly served as Head of Digital at the British Embassy in Washington and is a co-founder of the Digital Diplomacy Coalition, a volunteer-run community that brings together the tech and foreign affairs sectors.

Smith earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Hawaii Pacific University and a Master of Arts in Diplomacy from Norwich University.
