The Malek Ashtar University is allegedly heavily involved in Iran's WMD and missile programs. [1] The university's main purpose is to fulfill the educational, research, and development needs of the Ministry of Defense. [2] It is also a recruiting ground for the Revolutionary Guards. The MAU created a missile training course in 2003 in cooperation with the Aerospace Industries Organization. [3] UNSC resolutions 1737 and 1929 imposed sanctions on the MAU and its rector, Mehdi Nejad Nouri.
